No social commentary here, no internalized homophobia. Just a basic grasp of color coordination. I often find myself envying other flags that are nicer, like the trans flag and the pan flag. some of the brightest and most obnoxious shades just thrown together. I'm grateful to what it stands for, and I do love homophobes crying about 'gays stealing the rainbow' or being triggered by it, but. Now, I understand that part of the reason for that is probably stuff like the cost of fabric, since, y'know, it's a flag and materials cost money. The version with the brown and black stripes is even worse. Again, unrelated to it's meaning I understand the importance of acknowledging how race can affect the queer experience and appreciate the desire to represent black people.
Like, the pride flag on it's own is bad, but just. adding black and brown stripes to it? With no regard to if it will mesh with the other, already poorly coordinated colors? Eugh. It looks like something a child with access to just a small box of markers would make.
